Photographer Glenn Holden, AOPA member 2236667, first soloed in 1986. He currently holds single-engine airplane and commercial glider pilot certificates. He began flying cross-country in gliders in 1998 and in soaring competitions in 1999. When not flying his glider or a club Aeronca Champ, he mixes his passion for flight with a love of photography. Holden photographed the Region 5 North Soaring Championships in Perry, S.C., April 21 through 26. More than 75 aircraft and 150 people participated in the weeklong event.
