Club in Formation - (F17)
I would love to see the activity at our local airport (F17) increase. I wanted to fly as a young boy I turned 50 before I finished my PPL. If a flying club had been available my be I could have become a pilot sooner. I plan on getting involved in eagle and young eagle flights. I love to talk people up on local flights. Their is a hanger and Cessna 172 for sale at our airport owned by three guys who don't fly enough collectively to keep the plane but all three hate to sale it. Several people have ask if their were planes for rent at our airport. I also like to hear older pilots tell stories and I read where some clubs have regular meets to eat and visit. We have an annual fly-in once a year with a good turn out. The other 364 days of the year our airport resembles a ghost town. Finally I am a new pilot and want to keep GA alive for me to enjoy and passing it down to the next generation would be an added bonus.
Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
F17 has rental and privet owned hangers. We have a nice FBO. Some privet hangers might be used for meetings and classes.
Progress made towards starting the club:
I am in the very first stages of this ideal. I am currently talking to pilots to see if there is enough interest to support a club. I am applying for this scholarship not expecting to win it but to gather any information and advice to help in the pursuit of a flying club.

Hi Keith, I am from Carthage and fly out of 4f2. Stay in touch with our folks. Maybe we have a few pilots here who could help support your efforts. Regards, Cliff Todd
