Club Facilities

Why I'm interested in starting a club:
We have a beautiful airport and facility to start a flying club at. I took over as the airport manager two years ago. We have a very active Pilots Association located at the airport. We have a number of members who have their pilot's license, but not own an airplane. A flying club would open the door for those members to do more flying. It would also help us generate more interest in aviation, get more people flying, and help us grow our airport community. We have a full time flight instructor and mechanic at our facility to help with a flying club.

    Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
We have an 80X60 heated hanger/shop attached to our facility. We also have access and use to a conference room and social gathering area within the facility. The facility is relatively new, being built just 12 years ago.

Progress made towards starting the club:
At the airport we have a Pilots Association, with about 25 members. About half of the members own their own aircraft, the other half do not. They are very excited about the potential opportunity to have a flying club at our airport. The flying club and our pilots association would complement each other very well. One of the members owns a Cessna 172 and would let us use it for the flying club. I believe we have the major elements in place to start and operate a successful flying club.
