Why I'm interested in starting a club:
There are a few reasons I wish to start a flying club. First, I have a very nice Cessna 172 that I would like to share it's enjoyment with other pilots in my area. I would like to utilize this to start the club and then look at further expanding out fleet to a few larger aircraft as we grow.

Second is the social aspect of the club. I feel that if you share a passion with someone else, that it will motivate you and want you to advance. So many pilots I talk to simply stop flying because life gets in the way. I want to schedule events/meetings to keep members engaged and remind them and myself why we worked so hard to get our license in the first place.

The last and most important reason is to continue to share flying with my 10 year old daughter. I feel that a club is a great way to get future pilots engaged, like my daughter, along with other pilots and their families in our area.

    Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
Currently in Albert Lea, we only have non-heated hangars. That would work out great in the Summer time for meetings, but not during Winter. I plan to work with the FBO and city to rent out the meeting area space in our FBO that was recently vacated by a previous tenant. This space would be great for meetings and social events.

Progress made towards starting the club:
I spent a good amont of time getting information from our local FBO and also with the MN Dept of Transportation to understand what is needed to setup for a club. I researched insurance options, made flyers, and starting advertising on AOPA's site and facebook. I have talked with a few other pilots in the area who might be interested or know of people who might be interested.
