Club Facilities

Why I'm interested in starting a club:
I'm based out of MDW - the only "flying club" there as far as I'm aware is the Civil Air Patrol - and i use the term "club" loosely.

With only a single flight school serving the airport, I think a flying club based at a class C airport would be a unique experience for its members, while also providing a more central and therefore more convenient place to fly out of, compared to going up to PWK or ARR.

    Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
Unknown. Much of the space at MDW is occupied by either the terminal or other FBOs. Odyssey aviation recently closed, and I believe their hangar space is empty - but I honestly have no idea what the plan is with it.

GA planes have a spot over at what we call the "Tower Apron" which is on the south side of the field, next to Atlantic Aviation, near the tower. This is open-air parking, which is obviously not ideal for club aircraft.

I also realize that a more "major" airport like MDW is a longshot as there's likely quite a bit of red tape that would go along with the process. Even still, it's a nice thought.

Progress made towards starting the club:
Zero. I've only recently begun considering flying clubs. I saw this post on and was encouraged to apply.
