I have been a member of this flying club for over 5 years. If you are gov't, military or have access to military bases I highly recommend our club. First of all military clubs are a lot cheaper (I live 90 min away and although there are several clubs closer it is worth the drive) and although there are some very strict rules there are some that makes it even better. For example, it is not uncommon to take friends or a date to Tangier Island (less than a 30 min flight) stay there several hours and it will not be an issue. Some civilian flying clubs will not allow this. If you are looking to learn to fly we have great instructors (instructor rates are also cheaper than most civilian schools). In addition, you will be learning at a towered airport with several runways, restricted areas and many taxiways which will allow you to learn how to operate in any environment with confidence. Another benefit of being on a military airfield is operating with all types of military aircraft which will give you a appreciation for understanding restricted airspace. For pilots on a budget, there are several airfields close by you can do a hundred dollar hamburger run to for less than $100. It is also common for pilots to take a plane for several days or longer for vacations. If I can think of anything else I will do another post.
