Club Facilities

    Description

Why I'm interested in starting a club:
The existing club in my area requires a very substantial investment from the members to join. I understand their costs but it's not feasible for a "Blue collar family". I have 2 sons that both want to earn their certificates and at the costs they ask for it just doesnt make it possible. A $2600.00 initiation fee, $165 a month and $160/hr wet rate, for a 172 or 182?. I'm glad they have members, but thats pretty heavy. During my primary training I met alot of guys with kids in school, mortgages and a desire to get together and expand aviation experiences. Sometimes former students I trained with, we get together and split rentals just to help absorb the expenses. There has to be a better way.

    Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
To start off with Ronson Aviation/Mercer Flight Acadamy will allow me to use their facility for meetings/tie downs to help us get established. As the club grows naturally we want to own or own airplanes but in the meantime, you've got to begin somewhere. I feel fortunate that the FBO didn't slam the door on me. There are other facilities on the property that are not being used but will cost us rent, that will come down the road. I intend to ask for volunteers to help with whatever the airport needs from us (cleaning, etc) to help pay our way and show we're serious and appreciative.

Progress made towards starting the club:
Tie Downs established, Flight school I train at has provided guidance in discounted rental and or putting me in touch with other former students who would possibly be interested in leaseback of their personal airplanes. There are a few guys so far, we just need organization help.

    Thanks for your consideration,

    ~ Drew Archer
