Description

Why I'm interested in starting a club:
My husband, myself and our four grown children were introduced to flying 4 years ago. We are all in various stages to obtain our license, one son has his Private Pilots License with tail wheel, my husband and one son have taken their written test and just need to take their FAA check ride to obtain their license, both of my other children have taken lessons and in the last few months, I have started taking lessons. Since being introduced to flying, we have purchased a Cessna A152, Stinson 108 and a Aeronica Chief. We absolutely love flying! Our youngest son has even gone as far as completing a two year program at Spokane Community College and obtaining his Aviation Maintenance license so he can work on our planes. We have joined the local Pilot's Club and my husband is now the President of the Sanders County Hanger for the Montana Pilots Assn., with me being the Secretary/Treasurer. We live to fly, but with our county, (Sanders County, Mt) having the lowest per capita income in the state, there are so many people that we would like to share our love of flying with, but they are not able to afford it. A flying club could be the answer for them to realize their dreams and for us to meet people with our passion for flying.

Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
We have a pilots lounge at the airport that can be used by pilots, we are planning on building a hanger, since Plains has a new airport, there are no hangers to rent.

Progress made towards starting the club:
We have purchased three planes, a Cessna Aerobat, a Stinson (tailwheel), and a Aeronica Chief (tailwheel). We have plans in the next two years to build a 50X50 hanger at the airport. We are officers of the county Pilot Assn. We have six family members with a pilot license or in the process of getting their license. One of our family members has received his Aviation Maintenance license to help defray costs.
