Aug. 16 - Air Mod is completely rebuilding the interior of the Sweepstakes Bonanza.
For example, the fabric, padding, and suspension system of each seat will be removed and either used for a pattern or discarded. Then the existing paint will be stripped and the seats will be examined for airworthiness. Any damaged or worn components will be replaced.
After repainting the seat frames in colors that coordinate with the interior, the cushion suspension system, the specially designed and formed foam layers, and the upholstery will be installed. In the Bonanza's case, that means soft cream-in-coffee colored leather.
While all the seat work is being done, the interior fuselage side walls will be painted to guard against future corrosion, and to provide a good surface for the installation of sound-suppression barrier and absorption layers.
A state-of-the art medical facility on remote Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay serves as a lasting memorial to the late Dr. David B. Nichols’ dedication to providing medical care to the community for 30 years. Now, Nichols’ aviation legacy—flying a Cessna 182 or Robinson R44 to the island every Thursday to provide that care—is set in stone.
Daher-Socata announced that it had installed the first Garmin G600 and GTN 750 avionics in one of its 2004 TBM 700C2 airplanes.
