Nov. 21 - The Sweepstakes Bonanza will be celebrating Thanksgiving in Mineral Wells, Texas-and it will stay there until the Meggitt electronic flight information system (EFIS) receives supplemental type certificate (STC) approval for installation.
Although there appear to be some approval problems looming on the horizon, Meggit/S-Tec and AOPA are working to address the FAA's concerns about the electronic reference gyros that are part of the air data, attitude, and heading reference system (ADAHRS).
In the meantime, the day-to-day work that's part of an STC application goes on. Technicians at Meggitt/S-Tec have built an instrument panel that will stand in for the panel that's installed in N2001B during structural testing. And they're busy completing the interconnect drawings that supply the wiring specifics for the STC.
