Sept. 5 - Labor Day has come and gone, but the work on the sweepstakes Bonanza goes on. Dennis Wolter, owner of Air Mod located at the Batavia, Ohio, airport, and AOPA Associate Editor Steve Ells spent the Labor Day weekend down at the hangar working to keep the sweepstakes Bonanza on schedule. Ells traveled from California to resurrect his mechanical talents on the installation of new door locks, landing gear retraction rod boots, and Camloc cowling fasteners. Wolter built special arm rests for the fuselage side panels, and kept an eye on Ells. Tuesday morning saw one of the Air Mod techs cleaning the main landing gear wheel wells and inner surface of the landing gear doors in preparation for touch-up painting.
