Greg Pecoraro joins AOPA as vice president, regional affairs

Greg Pecoraro has joined the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) as its new vice president, regional affairs, where he will be responsible for AOPA's activities at the state and local levels.

"Greg has an extensive background in federal, state, and local government," said Andy Cebula, AOPA executive vice president of government affairs. "His experience and knowledge will be an enormous asset to AOPA."

In his new position Pecoraro will manage the association's efforts on airport issues, including the AOPA Airport Support Network, with the assistance of a staff based at AOPA's headquarters and 13 regional representatives located across the country.

Before joining AOPA, Pecoraro was vice president of a Washington-based government affairs and business development firm where he assisted client companies with a variety of legislative, regulatory, and procurement-related projects targeted to state and local governments. Prior to that he served as an assistant to the county executive of Baltimore County, Md., where he focused on economic development issues.

Pecoraro's extensive government experience includes employment as an assistant secretary in the Maryland Department of Transportation, where he served as a senior member of the Secretary's management and policy team; assistant to U.S. Sen. Paul Sarbanes, where he was responsible for legislative activities, intergovernmental relations with state and local governments, and federal projects in Md.; and special assistant and deputy state treasurer to the State Treasurer of Maryland.

Pecoraro resides in Westminster, Md., where he is involved in numerous community and civic activities.
