Tigers to be built in Georgia

Tiger Aircraft, which went bankrupt and closed in Martinsburg, W.Va., will rise again as True Flight Aerospace and build the AG5B Tiger, formerly the Grumman Tiger, under new ownership in Valdosta, Ga.

The company will offer various models from a VFR-only aircraft to an IFR aircraft with a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit under the leadership of CEO Kevin Lancaster. Temporary facilities will allow the startup of repair services, while a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility will be available by early 2008.

A key difference between the new venture and the previous Tiger Aircraft is the ability to manufacture parts in Valdosta.

"Our previous facility was primarily an assembly plant. Here we will have the ability to better control our production schedules and costs by bringing critical operations in house," a company official said.
