AOPA has written to the mayor of St. Clair, Mo., reminding him of the city’s federal grant obligations and urging him to keep St. Clair airport open and safe. AOPA got involved when members notified the association that Mayor Ron Blum had asked the board of aldermen to approve studying the cost of closing the airport. Read more on AOPA Online.

AOPA Foundation President Bruce Landsberg has challenged AOPA President Mark Baker to a dogfight. The battle? To see who can bring in the most "Hat in the Ring Society" donors to support aviation safety, promote airports, and improve the image of general aviation before the end of the year.
Pilots have formed a user group and launched a petition drive to save Runway 5/23 at Joplin Regional Airport in Joplin, Mo.
