Airship Ventures has stationed its newly commissioned Zeppelin NT (new technology) at Moffett Field, a former U.S. Navy dirigible field, located 12 miles from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
The 12-passenger airship features a comfortable, quiet cabin with wrap-around windows for 360-degree views, individual airline passenger seating, and a rest room. Passengers can cruise at 35 mph at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,500 feet msl.
One-hour flights around the South Bay cost $495 per person. Flights on Thursday, Nov. 6 depart at 1:35 p.m., 2:40 p.m., and 3:45 p.m. Flights on Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday Nov. 8, depart at 11:10 a.m., 1:35 p.m., 2:40 p.m., and 3:45 pm.
As the cold weather chills AOPA’s Headquarters in Frederick, many of us are inside generating new resources for flying clubs.
In my house, every Friday night is “Movie Night.” While the movies are rarely educational (I don’t think I learned anything from the Lego Movie), we look forward to the weekly opportunity to spend time together. Why not use the same concept for your Flying Club (with the addition of education, of course)?
AOPA Flying Club Manager Kelby Ferwerda posted the following on the AOPA Flying Club Facebook Page: “Recently I’ve talked with quite a few Flying Clubs about maintaining social activity through the cold winter months. Some clubs host Holliday Parties, others have Potluck Movie Nights. What does your club do to keep members involved during the chilly months?”
