General aviation is vital to New Jersey’s prosperity, and lawmakers should do all they can to keep fuel prices affordable, protect GA airports from encroachment, and take advantage of existing laws designed to protect privately owned fields. AOPA Foundation President Bruce Landsberg has challenged AOPA President Mark Baker to a dogfight. The battle? To see who can bring in the most "Hat in the Ring Society" donors before the end of the year to support aviation safety, promote community airports, and encourage more people to fly.
Pilots have formed a user group and launched a petition drive to save Runway 5/23 at Joplin Regional Airport in Joplin, Mo.
