Aspen Avionics received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval of its Evolution Flight Display 1000 Pilot and Pro models, the company said this week. The EFD1000 is Aspen’s retrofit primary flight display that has been available in the United States since early last year.
EASA granted Aspen Avionics European technical standard order (ETSO) authorization, which allows owners of European aircraft to install the displays and gives the avionics maker access to European dealers.
“Aspen continues to work with EASA toward broader approved model list supplemental type certifications (AML-STC) for European aircraft. Aspen will also work with and support European Design Organizations pursuing individual model STCs, aiming to achieve the broadest possible list of approvals for the Evolution Flight Display system,” the company said.
The EFD1000 Pro retails for $9,995 in the United States, not including installation. Although the majority of installations have been retrofit, Liberty Aircraft and Diamond Aircraft are offering the unit as standard equipment on certain models.
