An airworthiness directive (AD) takes effect July 27 requiring owners of the Hawker Beechcraft Bonanza G36 to have their aircraft inspected for chafing of electrical connectors and the fuel line in the cockpit. Chafing between the wire harness or connectors and the fuel line above the rudder pedals could result in fuel leakage in the cockpit and fire if the wiring arcs through the fuel line.
During the manufacturing of the fuel line, protective insulation was not installed or was located improperly. Contact between electrical components and the fuel line may cause damage to the fuel line. The AD applies to serials E-3630, E-3636 through E-3817, E-3819 through E-3834, E-3836 through E-3887, E-3889 through E-3896, E3898, and E-3899.
Owners must comply with the AD within 10 hours time-in-service after July 27 or six calendar months, whichever comes first.
Hawker Beechcraft also issued mandatory Service Bulletin 28-3967 dealing with the problem. The service bulletin indicates warranty credit is available for the work. The bulletin also warns pilots not to take off if the odor of fuel is present in the cockpit or liquids are observed on the floor forward of the pilot’s seat. If in the air, pilots noticing the odor of fuel or seeing liquid on the floor should land as soon as practical.

In my house, every Friday night is “Movie Night.” While the movies are rarely educational (I don’t think I learned anything from the Lego Movie), we look forward to the weekly opportunity to spend time together. Why not use the same concept for your Flying Club (with the addition of education, of course)?

Some clubs host Holliday Parties, others have Potluck Movie Nights. What does your club do to keep members involved during the chilly months?”
