Registration is open for AOPA Aviation Summit, and it’s time to start planning your trip to Tampa, Fla., for Nov. 5 through 7. AOPA offers a variety of programs that have been designed to help you plan an exciting, budget-friendly experience for the entire family. Just follow our four steps to Summit savings.
Step One: Pick your package. Choose the package that best meets your needs. You’ll find that with our reduced package rates and pre-registration discounts, creating a package that suits your budget is easier than ever before.
Step Two: Choose your hotel. All AOPA official hotels offer incredible rates and are price-guaranteed if you block through the services of our AOPA housing organization, The Housing Connection.
Step Three: Book your flight. With AOPA’s Online Travel program, you’ll receive great rates on your airfare. Plus a portion of the revenue generated will be returned to AOPA. So you’ll not only be receiving a great deal on your flight, you’ll be supporting general aviation. Plus, commercial airlines are offering great deals right now! Need a rental car while you’re in Tampa? AOPA can help with that too. Save on your car rental from Alamo, Avis, and Hertz with exclusive Summit discounts.
Step Four: Scout out the fun Tampa has to offer. Watch a video of some of the attractions in the area. Come to AOPA Aviation Summit where you will find a pilot’s playground, plus enjoy the water and sunshine at Tampa Bay. The area is full of rich arts, professional sports, sights to see, and things to do you won’t find anywhere else. Whatever your pleasure, you'll find it in Tampa Bay!

As the cold weather chills AOPA’s Headquarters in Frederick, many of us are inside generating new resources for flying clubs.
In my house, every Friday night is “Movie Night.” While the movies are rarely educational (I don’t think I learned anything from the Lego Movie), we look forward to the weekly opportunity to spend time together. Why not use the same concept for your Flying Club (with the addition of education, of course)?
AOPA Flying Club Manager Kelby Ferwerda posted the following on the AOPA Flying Club Facebook Page: “Recently I’ve talked with quite a few Flying Clubs about maintaining social activity through the cold winter months. Some clubs host Holliday Parties, others have Potluck Movie Nights. What does your club do to keep members involved during the chilly months?”
