A major infusion of capital is set to springboard light sport aircraft leader Remos Aircraft deep into the training market and help it reach outside traditional aviation boundaries to find new pilots. Corvin Huber, CEO of Remos, said the new investors, Pall Mall Partners of London, are technology focused investors who have successfully implemented innovative marketing ideas in the automotive industry.

With its sporty and high-tech GX model, Remos says it has moved into the number-one sales position in the competitive LSA market.

In the automotive world, Pall Mall has created experiential marketing events for Audi that have resulted in 36 percent of attendees buying an Audi automobile—a remarkably high number. Huber can’t say yet exactly what Remos’ strategy will be for leveraging Pall Mall’s funding and expertise; however, he did say that it will revolve around the idea of making aircraft ownership more affordable, fun, practical, and social.

Remos will likely offer some sort of innovative shared-ownership program that reduces acquisition costs and also increases the involvement of pilots and their families in activities at the airport. The company plans to open two to three test centers in strategic U.S. cities later this year. Once the test locations have been fully tested and proven, Remos will roll out another dozen or more experience locations in 2010.

Huber sees successful flight schools as a key to growing the pilot population. As part of its marketing plan, Remos is working with select flight schools around the country to open sport pilot and private pilot training operations that utilize Remos aircraft. The Remos Pilot Center program is headed by industry training veteran Bob Anderson. Remos has also partnered with Gleim Publishing and Pilot Journey to develop a custom training courseware that includes use of a PC-based Remos GX simulator. Remos expects to have 20 pilot centers operating by the end of the year and 80 by 2011.
