King Schools continues to develop course improvements

As part of its new private and sport pilot online training course, King Schools has developed a number of new features that will expand across its line of courses, the company told AOPA this week.

Company co-owner John King said that more scenario-based training is a key component to the new course. “We need to focus a little bit on every flight about the risks associated with it,” he said. King said that this is done through more real-world application of the pilot maneuvers, hopefully getting students to understand the risks, challenges, and rewards of the basics of pilot training.

In addition to a new approach, King Schools is offering the material in a variety of new ways, including mobile video. Now buyers can watch on an iPhone or other mobile video device as the Kings instruct their way through any maneuver. Only the sport and private pilot course is available now, but more Web-based Cessna Pilot Center courses are expected to be added in the future.

King Schools is also continuing to develop its list of offerings for professional pilots, with such courses as RVSM. Now, instead of traveling to a pilot training center for an all-day course, pilots have the option of training online at their convenience with the Kings, usually in less than two hours.
