AeroPlanner offers service with Google Maps interface

Pilots are always looking for a faster, easier way to plan their flights: from pencils and paper charts to electronic E-6Bs to online flight planners that do almost all of the work—except for choosing the departure and destination airports.

Online flight planning providers are striving to make it even simpler, and AeroPlanner has taken a stab at doing so using a familiar interface—Google Maps.

AeroPlanner integrates maps, weather, temporary flight restrictions, airport data, a logbook, and more. With the new Google Maps interface, pilots can easily move their flight plan into Google Earth for a virtual look at the obstacles and airspace along their route of flight and check out the airport environment at their destination. The charts and flight plan can be saved as a single PDF to be printed or even pulled up in flight on an iPad or other device.

AeroPlanner offers monthly and yearly subscriptions. Prices range from $4.95 to $12.95 per month and $49.95 to $249.95 per year.
