Log support for AOPA/EAA medical petition at Oshkosh

July 19, 2012

Attendees at EAA AirVenture can stop by the AOPA Tent to express support for a request by AOPA and the Experimental Aircraft Association that would reduce the burden of the third class medical.

Pilots will be able to submit comments to the FAA about the request, which would allow pilots to fly recreationally under certain conditions by completing an online medical awareness course, doing a self-assessment before every flight, and using their driver’s license in lieu of a third class medical. The tent (Booth 193) also will offer activities, advice, and prizes for prospective and seasoned pilots alike.

Find out more about AOPA's new suite of digital flight planning products—AOPA FlyQ—for synced flight planning and airport information on your computer, iPhone, and iPad. Take safety quizzes and learn how the AOPA Foundation is working to help save general aviation. And enter the daily drawing, sponsored by Aircraft Spruce, for your chance to win Aircraft Spruce gift cards.

Prospective pilots can learn more about becoming a pilot at the AOPA Flight Training Center, or try their hand at flying in a Redbird Flight Simulations FMX full-motion flight simulator.

AOPA’s medical and legal experts will be available to answer questions at various times throughout the day, and pilots can get quotes and learn more about coverage from AOPA Insurance Services—ask how you can get an Oshkosh Coverage Kit.

Pilots also can learn more about the AOPA/EAA medical petition and ask questions in a forum July 24 at 10 a.m. in the Welcome Center.

EAA AirVenture takes place July 23 through 29 in Oshkosh, Wis. Find more information about the AOPA Tent and the AOPA schedule of events online.
