Fly in to Summit: Download arrival, departure tips

What better way to experience AOPA Aviation Summit 2012 than flying there yourself? We have no shortage of help available to plan, arrive, and depart. Everything but a tailwind is at your fingertips.

Special arrival and departure procedures will be in effect Oct. 9 through 15, and plenty of planning has gone into the ground side, too. Ground crews will be ready to direct arrivals to their parking, and regularly scheduled shuttles will connect two local airports— Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport and Palm Springs International Airport—with the Palm Springs Convention Center. All of the planning information has been compiled in a handy package that covers VFR arrival and departure procedures, radio frequencies, and parking information. Once you’re on the ground, the ground transportation schedule details the shuttle services provided by AOPA.

Those shuttles will make it easy to take part in various flight activities available during Summit, including hot air balloon rides, warbird and biplane flights, or a glass cockpit transition with a CFI.

A thorough briefing, and thorough planning, will take the trip by GA aircraft straightforward and fun.
