AOPA's Parade of Planes returns after six years. Watch as dozens of aircraft taxi under their own power from Palm Springs International Airport to the Palm Springs Convention Center on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. Here are the top five reasons you won't want to miss this parade.
No. 5: Variety. Catch a conga line of light sport aircraft, business jets, and everything in between.
No. 4: Celebrity airplane. See the Cessna 310 Sky King strut its stuff—a perfect photo opp.
No. 3: Pilots up for a challenge. Cheer pilots on as they taxi through tight spaces, maneuvering their wings between trees, telephone and electric polls, and other obstacles.
No. 2: A chance to get in on the action. Volunteer to help marshal the aircraft through the streets!
No. 1: Airplanes taxiing through the streets! How often can you see that happen?
The Parade of Planes is the perfect way to kick off three days of excitement at AOPA Aviation Summit, Oct. 11 through 13. Register today to save.
As the cold weather chills AOPA’s Headquarters in Frederick, many of us are inside generating new resources for flying clubs.
In my house, every Friday night is “Movie Night.” While the movies are rarely educational (I don’t think I learned anything from the Lego Movie), we look forward to the weekly opportunity to spend time together. Why not use the same concept for your Flying Club (with the addition of education, of course)?
AOPA Flying Club Manager Kelby Ferwerda posted the following on the AOPA Flying Club Facebook Page: “Recently I’ve talked with quite a few Flying Clubs about maintaining social activity through the cold winter months. Some clubs host Holliday Parties, others have Potluck Movie Nights. What does your club do to keep members involved during the chilly months?”
