Visitors to EAA AirVenture 2013 will get an early screening of Disney’s animated movie Planes on Aug. 2 at the Fly-In Theater.
The comedy adventure, like Disney’s 2006 Cars, features cartoon characters, well-known voices, and an unlikely quest. In this case, Dusty, a crop duster, seeks to become an air racer with some help from Navy jets.
Director Klay Hall describes Planes as an underdog story.
“It has a lot of heart and a message we can all use,” Hall said. “If we can believe in ourselves, step out of our comfort zones and get past whatever fear that’s holding us back, we’d be surprised with the results. And that’s exactly what happens to Dusty in this movie.”
The preview screening is at the Fly-In Theater, an outdoor facility with a five-story-high screen near the Camp Scholler camping area.
Actors giving voice to the animated characters include Dane Cook, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stacy Keach. Planes opens in theaters Aug. 9. View the trailer on the Disney website.
