Can an aeronautical idea still seem futuristic decades, or even generations, after it first tickled the imagination? The public—flying and non-flying alike—certainly seems just as beguiled today with the idea of a flying car as it was when your grandfather earned his plane-spotting credentials by pointing out DC-3s and Lockheed Constellations overhead.
