Whirly-Girls International plans to award more than $60,000 in scholarships to help its members and other female pilots further their flight training.
The nonprofit organization is dedicated to advancing women in helicopter aviation. It is offering 10 scholarships that will be awarded at Heli-Expo in February 2014, Anaheim, Calif.
Offerings include a AS350 turbine transition course at the American Eurocopter Factory School; a Robinson R22/R44 safety course; initial type training, recurrent training, and inadvertent IMC training using a Bell 206 FAA Level 7 qualified flight training device; advanced mountain training; aircraft ditching; and general flight training. While these require membership in the organization to apply, an add-on flight training scholarship designed for female pilots rated in aircraft other than helicopters is open to nonmembers.
