FAA seeks comments on August military exercise

chart

The FAA is seeking public comments on an Air Force request to establish a temporary military operations area (TMOA) in central Wisconsin during training exercises Aug. 19 to Aug. 30. Members may submit comments on the proposal by March 27 as provided below.

In a proposal almost identical to a 2012 exercise, the TMOA would accommodate the Air Force’s training exercise Northern Lightning from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Daylight Time, at altitudes from 8,000 feet msl to, but not including, Flight Level 180, in an area shown in the accompanying graphic. The TMOA could also be active at other times by notices to airman.

AOPA has reviewed the proposal and determined that significant impacts on general aviation operations are not anticipated.

Members are urged to familiarize themselves with the TMOA boundaries and to check notams carefully during the active period, which is also an active time of year for general aviation flight operations.

Members may send comments by March 27 to Manager, Operations Support Group, AJV-C2, Airspace Study 13-AGL-03NR, Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, 2601 Meacham Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76137.

Please share your comments with AOPA.
