‘College Park’ features exhibits, forums for students

The EAA Education and Interactive Zone featuring College Park will offer high school and college-aged students a gathering spot and activities geared toward them at EAA AirVenture 2013 in Oshkosh, Wis.

The pavilion, presented by American Airlines, will have more than 35 indoor and outdoor exhibits, an Academy of Model Aeronautics flight simulator, and daily forums, according to the Experimental Aircraft Association.

“At College Park we are able to meet face to face with young people to generate interest and appreciation for the entire aviation community,” said Captain Bart Roberts, a retired Navy pilot and chief pilot of line operations for American Airlines. “And that’s what EAA is all about.”

College Park will host a job fair July 31 from noon to 3 p.m., and a “quad” grassy area will allow students to hang out and play games. Most of the activities at the Education and Interactive Zone will be aviation centered, including pilot proficiency forums from the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators’ Pilot Proficiency Project in partnership with Redbird Flight Simulations and 11 flight scenarios that can be flown in a Redbird FMX flight simulator. Wargaming.net will have a video promotion of its new online game, World of Warplanes.
