A temporary military operations area (TMOA) will be established June 17 through 28 in parts of northern Michigan and Wisconsin. AOPA members were originally asked to comment on the proposed TMOA in January.
The Air Force will establish the Sentry and Ironwood TMOAs to support Exercise Northern Sentry. The TMOA will be in effect from 6,000 feet msl up to but not including Flight Level 180 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. daily.
“There may be impacts to several Victor airways at a time of the year when general aviation operations are high, so we urge pilots to plan accordingly,” said Melissa McCaffrey, AOPA senior government analyst of air traffic services.
Garmin has announced an upgrade making new features and options available to operators of G1000-equipped King Airs in the 200/250/300/350 series.
AOPA will request that the FAA drop a proposal to eliminate some airway segments in connection with the scheduled decommissioning of the Peck, Mich., VOR.
Two go-arounds and a rejected takeoff would provide a day’s drama at many airports. When they all happen at once, with the go-arounds head-on, only luck averts disaster.
AOPA thanks our members for their continued support in protecting the freedom to fly.
