Ag Aviation Association opens 2013 scholarship

May 6, 2013

Have you ever wanted to be an ag pilot? The National Agriculture Aviation Association (NAAA) is accepting applications for its 2013 scholarship competition, whose goal is to bring new pilots to the profession.

Up to $7,500 will be available to the recipient or recipients who use the proceeds for flight training or agricultural coursework at a university, college, or community college. NAAA said it will award one scholarship valued at $5,000 and could award a second valued at $2,500 depending on the pool of applicants. Also available is a stipend for a trainee in an NAAA operator-sponsored apprentice program.

Applications are available on the association’s website. Each applicant must be sponsored by a NAAA operator member, and must submit a letter of recommendation; a 250-word essay; and a one-page résumé or list of activities detailing all agricultural and aviation expenses, education, and training. For more information, see the website or call NAAA at 202/546-5722. The deadline to apply is Aug. 31.
