Most people have four days to relax during the Thanksgiving holidays. And what could be more relaxing than playing aviation games on your smartphone or tablet? I last highlighted games apps for the Fourth of July holiday, so enjoy these new ones. These are not endorsements of any app.
Chopper ($2.99 in iTunes)—Tap your inner helicopter pilot with this iPhone/iPad app, where users fly a chopper and try to avoid enemy fire from tanks and bazooka-wielding mad men. The game has 20 levels, each with four subsets of difficulties. The Lite version of the game allows users to play through the first 5 levels in each of the two easiest scenarios.
Tiny Wings ($0.99 in iTunes)—This arcade-style game that is optimized for the iPhone 5 lets players use hills to launch and help a tiny bird fly. The game looks different every time it’s played and includes 27 tricky achievements.
Infinite Flight ($4.99 in iTunes and Google Play)—This iPhone/iPad app is like a flight simulator. Users have access to 27 aircraft types in eight regions across the world. The game has all major airports with runway and taxiway layouts.
Skies of Glory (free in iTunes and $0.99 in Google Play)—Join users and team up in this air combat game. Players can defend a base, destroy enemy compounds and logistical resources, or show off their piloting skills.
Wings Earth: Flight Simulator Experience ($1.99 in iTunes)—This flight visualizer uses virtual worlds to create a realistic simulator for iPhone/iPad users. The app allows users to use their own music to “fly,” or use the built-in songs.
Please help me choose the list of the 10 best aviation apps of 2013. Pick your top 10 from a list of 30 apps chosen by the AOPA Online editors via this poll. Take this quick poll and choose your 10 favorites from a list of 30. Feel free to write in your favorites if they didn't make the list. The winners will be announced before the end of the year. Meanwhile, you can see the complete list of apps I’ve already highlighted here.
