Lightspeed unveils $500 burger contest

Aviation headsets manufacturer Lightspeed Aviation has launched a $500 Burger Getaway contest that plays off the pilot-favorite $100 hamburger.

Eligible participants who buy a new Lightspeed Zulu.2 or Sierra headset and register the headset between now and Jan. 7, 2014, will be automatically entered into a weekly drawing for a $500 flying package. The package includes gift cards for $150 of avgas, $100 for a rental car, $100 for dining, and $150 for lodging. And those who buy headsets at an authorized Lightspeed dealer can be registered to generate an entry.

“We took the $100 hamburger and adjusted for inflation,” said Teresa De Mers, executive vice president of sales, marketing, and customer support for Lightspeed, in a press release. “The $500 Burger Getaway is designed to not only be a fun way to build excitement around our products, but also to encourage pilots to engage in the adventure and freedom we enjoy as pilots.”

The timing really didn’t have anything to do with the holidays, although the whimsical and colorful execution certainly fits the time of year, said Ed Hanson, Lightspeed Aviation’s marketing communications manager. “Our goal was, create a fun and exciting promotion that would both grab attention during a time of year when there is lots of competition for attention, while reinforcing the freedom and adventure that is at the heart of why many people fly or should be flying more,” he said.

Lightspeed will do one drawing a week during the promotion. The contest is open to U.S. residents 18 years of age or older. For more information, including the official rules, go to the Lightspeed website.
