Question: An air carrier that operates airplanes under 14 CFR Part 135 has shown interest in hiring me. The job is mine as long as I meet the Part 135 requirements for pilot in command under IFR. If I have 1,100 hours of total flight time, have I met the requirements?

Answer: No. 14 CFR Part 135.243 describes the minimum requirements for serving as pilot in command on an IFR flight. When it comes to total flight time, a pilot must have 1,200 hours. As well as having 1,200 hours, the pilot must also have at least 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night flight time, and 75 hours of instrument flight time. Source: FAR 135.243
