Flight Display Systems located in Alpharetta, Ga., is displaying the third generation of its JetJukebox in-flight entertainment system. It streams movies, music, and other content to carry-on devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. It can stream the content to as many as eight passengers over Wi-Fi by creating a local network within the cabin.
Corporate content can be loaded and presented to passengers. It basically acts as a local file server, allowing business associates to share documents such as PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
"We know that aircraft owners are looking for cost-effective ways to include carry-on devices in in-flight entertainment, especially without an internet connection," said David Gray, president of Flight Display Systems. "The JetJukebox allows passengers access to a library of content."
Content can be loaded to an internal 240 GB solid state drive. Content can either be loaded by attaching a laptop via an Ethernet port, or by plugging in a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. JetJukebox will also serve content directly from a USB storage device, such as a thumb drive. There are six USB ports.
It can connect to an existing Wi-Fi router such as Aircell, Honeywell, and True North. A future product is a Flight Display Wi-Fi router. The device connects to the aircraft flight management system to get map data.
Other products from Flight Display include a device to charge and sync 10 iPads, a dual USB charger for most carry-on devices, and HD Audio noise-canceling headphones.
