April 16 is Wilbur Wright’s birthday, and the Flying Musicians Association, along with the National Park Service and the First Flight Society, plan to throw him a party.
The Flying Musicians Association will co-host a celebration on April 16 at First Flight Airport in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., to salute Wright’s birthday. All are invited to drive or fly to the event, which takes place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Pilot musicians, local musicians, students, and members of the community will celebrate the birth of Wright, who, with his brother, Orville, designed, built, and flew a powered aircraft on Dec. 17, 1903. The Flying Musicians Association will give a presentation at noon about the correlation between aviation and music. Breakfast, snacks, and a birthday cake will be served. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments to help celebrate.
The Flying Musicians is a nonprofit group of musician pilots who seek to educate others about the common attributes of aviation and music, and encourage personal growth in either area.
