Cessna offers CJ3+, CJ2+ upgrades

Cessna now offers a CJ3+ model featuring the Garmin 3000 avionics suite.

Cessna Aircraft now offers a CJ3+ model featuring the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, and has upgraded the CJ2+ with similar improvements. The upgrades for both models include redesign in the cabin and cockpit plus new pressurization and diagnostics systems.

The CJ3+ promises a 1,875-nautical-mile range, a maximum cruise speed of 416 knots true airspeed, seating for nine, a useful load of 5,290 pounds, and a takeoff distance of 3,180 feet. The CJ2+ Alpine edition is shown on the Cessna website as having a range of 1,613 nm, a maximum cruise speed of 418 knots true airspeed, seating for eight, a useful load of 4,595 pounds, and a takeoff distance of 3,360 feet.

In addition to the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, the Alpine Edition includes increased access to the cockpit with the removal of seven inches from the legacy pedestal, improved turbulence detecting weather radar, traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) II, advanced Terrain Awareness Warning Systems (TAWS), a wireless media server, Garmin integrated cockpit and cabin Iridium phone, and high-speed Internet capabilities from Aircell. The Alpine Edition CJ2+ package includes the installation of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities, which meet NextGen air traffic control requirements for ADS-B. Alpine Edition will also offer exclusive exterior paint schemes and interior packages as optional upgrades.

The CJ3+’s new G3000 avionics also includes improved turbulence detecting weather radar, TCAS II, advanced Terrain Awareness Warning Systems (TAWS), a wireless media server, Garmin integrated cockpit and cabin Iridium phone, and high-speed internet capabilities from Aircell. The CJ3+ also will have ADS-B and is expected to receive FAA certification during the second half of 2013, with deliveries following afterward.

The Alpine Edition CJ2+ modification package includes the installation of a Garmin G3000 and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast capability.
