Veteran airshow pilot Charlie Schwenker was flying slower to help wing walker Jane Wicker get into position on the modified Stearman’s bottom wing. The NTSB ruled this month that the June 2013 crash that killed them both was the result of controlled flight into terrain, with slower speed, lower altitude, and being out of position in the airshow box contributing factors.

The Flight Education Division consists of a fleet of 17 aircraft and approximately 15 instructors. Training takes place at the Ohio State University Airport (Don Scott Field). Ohio State's airport is certificated by the FAA for commercial service, and is a general aviation reliever airport for the Port Columbus International Airport.

What is the normal useful range of a terminal class VOR in feet and nautical miles?
Answer
A terminal class VOR is normally usable up to 12,000 feet and to a radius of 25 nautical miles. Find further details on VOR service volumes in Aeronautical Information Manual 1-1-8. (Source: Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge Chapter 15.)
