One of the hot topics this airshow season will no doubt be the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast Out (ADS-B Out) equipage mandate set for Jan. 1, 2020, and the plethora of units available to meet the deadline. You can learn about some of the products that are available and how they work during educational seminars at the AOPA Campus at the Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-in and Expo in Lakeland, Florida, April 21 through 26.

FreeFlight Systems, which announced ADS-B Out compliant equipment for less than $2,000 in March, will host a seminar, “FreeFlight: What is ADS-B?” The seminar will cover the ins and outs of ADS-B and what you need to do in order to meet the 2020 deadline.

Garmin, which offers the Vantage product line that meets ADS-B Out requirements, will host a seminar about its product solutions. Jim Alpiser, Garmin’s director of aviation aftermarket sales, will answer frequently asked questions regarding ADS-B and outline the various products the company offers for aircraft owners.

Other seminars at the AOPA Campus cover topics including iPads in the cockpit, upgrading your avionics, safety technique, and more. See the schedule and complete list of AOPA seminars featuring presentations from Sporty’s, Jeppesen, Lockheed, John and Martha King, Avidyne, and NORAD. Also, you won’t want to miss seminars by AOPA Editor in Chief Tom Haines, Air Safety Institute Senior Safety Advisor Bruce Landsberg, Air Safety Institute Senior Vice President George Perry, or AOPA columnist Rod Machado.
