MyGoFlight, the Denver-based company that makes electronic accessories for aviation, has released two mounting systems for iPads and other electronic devices in the cockpit. The first is a bracket that can be attached to an existing rail system around the front top of the cockpit, like the monorail made for certain aircraft by Rosen Sunvisor Systems. The second is a MyGoFlight clip mount for aircraft that can’t use or don’t have a rail system.
The rail system is usually found in larger aircraft and is installed under approval by the FAA. In the case of the monorail offered by Rosen, it can cost $1,000 or more depending on the aircraft. MyGoFlight offers articulating attachments for iPads and other displays that mount on the monorail and offer better positioning, the company claims.
The MyGoFlight brackets used for existing monorail systems cost $270. It is a one-size-fits-all system whether using a mini iPad, a full-size iPad, or some other electronic flightbag display. The company does not offer the monorail. (Rosen also makes mounting brackets for iPads and other devices to be used with the monorail system.)
The MyGoFlight clip mount has three pieces: the base, the slide that goes into the base, and a Flex Arm. The very small footprint mounting base can be secured to an existing or new hole pattern with screws or be attached with the use of tape to any smooth surface like metal or glass.
