Envoy Air, ATP Flight School offer tuition reimbursement

Regional airline Envoy Air has agreed to participate in ATP Flight School’s tuition reimbursement program, the companies announced Dec. 11.

Envoy will pay up to $11,000 of ATP flight instructor graduates’ training costs. In exchange, the flight instructors agree to fly for Envoy after earning the requisite number of hours.

“The ATP tuition reimbursement program allows Envoy to ease the financial burden faced by aspiring pilots, while simultaneously giving Envoy immediate access to some of the nation’s top aviation talent,” said Ric Wilson, vice president of flight operations for Envoy.

Envoy has a flow-through agreement with American Airlines, which means ATP graduates starting at the regional airline have prospects for long-term careers. The regional said it is hiring 30 pilots per month. New hires are projected to upgrade to captain in two-and-one-half years and flow through to American in just more than five years. Envoy said its pilots make up half of every American new-hire class.
