The Ninety-Nines and Experimental Aircraft Association will award $3,000 to support one young woman’s flight training through her first solo and beyond through the 2015 Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship.
The scholarship is funded by The Ninety-Nines Inc., International Organization of Women Pilots, with support from its Ventura County Chapter and a 2014 Lightspeed Aviation Foundation Pilots Choice Award, and will be awarded during WomenVenture activities at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 22. Applications are due by email by July 7.
Applicants must be age 16 to 20 at any time during the 2015 calendar year. To apply, email your name, address, email address, cellphone number, and birth date along with a 500-word essay describing why you want to learn to fly, how you expect to apply your training, and your goals for the future.
The scholarship is named for Ventura County Ninety-Nines Chapter Chair Karen Johnson, who died in 2013 while flying frost control in Delano, California. Find further details on this scholarship and others on the EAA website.
