Aspen ATX100G ADS-B transceiver gets FAA OK

Aspen ATX100G ADS-B transceiverAspen Avionics announced March 16 that it has received FAA certification for its ATX100G Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) transceiver. The unit, which transmits and receives on the 978 MHz Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) frequency, has an internal WAAS GPS sensor. It provides both ADS-B Out and In capabilities to aircraft with a Mode A/C or Mode S transponder but without a compatible WAAS GPS navigation receiver. It complies with the FAA’s Jan. 1, 2020, ADS-B Out mandate for operations below 18,000 feet and delivers traffic and subscription-free ADS-B weather to the cockpit.

The ATX100G can depict ADS-B In weather and traffic information on Aspen Evolution primary flight displays and multifunction displays. Aspen’s products use either a single, bottom-mounted ADS-B antenna, or a diversity system with top- and bottom-mounted antennas for optimum traffic detection.

“Aspen designs products to work with what aircraft owners already have in their panels,” said John Uczekaj, Aspen president and CEO. “Our NextGen single-band transceivers provide an easy and cost-effective way for pilots to meet the upcoming ADS-B Out mandate in 2020.”

Aspen announced the ATX100G at EAA AirVenture in July 2014.

The ATX100G is available from authorized Aspen Avionics dealers. It retails for $4,995, which does not include antennas or installation. The company said it’s available for immediate delivery.
