Jeppesen marine division sold

Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen is selling its marine products division to Digital Marine Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

The deal, announced in a March 15 press release, will be subject to customary closing conditions, and Jeppesen will continue to support its marine products during the transition.

Better known to pilots for its wide range of aviation services including paper and digital charts, Jeppesen Marine has long produced charts and other services for mariners.

“We are pleased that our marine team is joining Digital Marine Solutions, where it will continue to deliver industry-leading cartography and operations solutions to recreational and commercial mariners, alike,” Jeppesen CEO Kevin Crowley said in the news release. “We are making this move to focus on our core aviation business, while at the same time positioning the marine business to succeed.”

Digital Marine Solutions is owned by the Altor 2003 Fund, which holds other notable names in the marine industry, including Navico, a leading recreational marine electronics company.
