Each year at the EAA's Oshkosh fly-in, I'm amazed at the number of innovative homebuilt designs that meet the criteria for low-cost, entry-level training or personal transportation airplanes. Add to that fact a question I hear from members wherever I travel: "Where are all the new aircraft going to come from?" By making the certification process less costly and more up-to-date, perhaps some of these unique experimental designs could find their way into production lines.
