A pool of anchovies-(above)
When larger fish or marine mammals in the ocean threaten small fish, the small fish usually group together to try to appear larger as a group. However, it’s rare to have millions of anchovies group together, and it’s even rarer to have a photographer flying overhead when it happens. A passenger with Channel Islands Helicopters, Liz Vernand took this image in early November off Ventura, Calif.
Greenland Ice Melt-(above, below and right)
NASA's C-130 research aircraft flew from the Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Va., to Greenland in early November to conduct survey flights to collect data that will improve understanding of seasonal melt and provide baseline measurements for future satellite missions.

Molasses Spill in Hawaii-A leaking pipeline caused nearly 233,000 gallons of molasses to spill into Honolulu Harbor on Sept. 9, 2013, where it quickly sank to the bottom of the bay, robbing the water of oxygen and wiping out marine life. At least 26,000 marine animals died.
Paris 2013 Air Show-(above)
About 3,100 journalists attended the 50th International Paris Air Show in June, which highlighted 150 aircraft and included a record 2,215 exhibitors. The next Paris Air Show will be held June 15-21, 2015 at the Le Bourget Exhibition Centre.
