The ball game is long over and most people don’t even remember who won. But this image certainly is memorable. Photographer Mark Holtzman snapped this photo of the B-2 stealth bomber as it flew over the stadium before the 2009 Rose Bowl game between USC and Penn State. More and more high-altitude vapor trails appear in the skies as the flight density of commercial aviation increases. These trails often follow the plane straight and narrow, and then degrade into fuzzy and fanciful formations, blending with clouds and leaving a subtle afterimage in our subconscious. As this photo shows, sometimes a simple condensation trail from a jet engine can be worth a second glance. Fly me to the Moon — This photograph was taken with a simple zoom lens "out in the garden with the 2X extender on the 70-200mm lens, with no tripod.” Photo by Barry McGrath. Source: Dark Roasted Blend (http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/06/jets-clouds-effects.html)
