TFR to cover New Orleans for Super Bowl

tfr super bowlThe Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) – First Air Force produced this poster to alert pilots in the area of the upcoming TFR for Super Bowl XLVII.

The FAA has released the notice to airmen (notam) describing airspace restrictions related to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans Feb. 3.

The temporary flight restriction (TFR) for the event establishes a 10-nautical-mile inner ring and 30-nm outer ring within which flights are restricted from 1530 local time until 2359 local time Feb. 3.

The TFR is centered at the Harvey VOR 331 radial at 6.2 miles and stretches from the surface up to but not including 18,000 feet msl. Within the inner circle, all aircraft operations are prohibited except for approved law enforcement and a few other listed exceptions. Within the outer ring, aircraft must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan squawking an ATC-assigned discrete code and remain in two-way radio communication with ATC, among other requirements. See the notam for a list of operations not authorized within the TFR.

Pilots should check notams just prior to flight, as notams may change with little notice.
