Am considering Boerne instead of KSAT. So I called today and was informed tiedowns are $20 a day versus the $15 at Landmark Aviation at KSAT. Avgas was higher at San Antonio, $7.13 vrs $6.18. There is a break on price if you pump more than 10gl. 28, April 2012.

Nice little airport to land if going to San Antonio (15-20 minute drive) and want to stay out of the busy San Antonio airspace. The airport was fairly busy with GA traffic. The layout of the airport is simple with just enough ramp space. The poeple were very courteous and friendly. The only negative was the high price of the ramp fee to leave the aircraft overnight. More luxurious FBO's dont charge as much on ramp fees/overnight fees as Boerne. You might wanna take that into consideration.

Arrived at 5C1 this weekend, it seems none of the aformentioned information was accurate. While busy, this airport had plenty of parking with adequate tie downs. The FBO is gorgeous and staffed. There are vending machines in the kitchen area with coffee and ice tea to boot! There was quite a bit of glider activity that day, and they were eminently vigilant on the radio, even asked me if I minded landing over them. They were notably courteous actually, and invited me to go flying with them. A good experience all and all and with the proximity to San Antonio and the beautiful hill country, you can't beat it. I did mention the fuel prices to the FBO staff, and they informed me that the airport was privately owned, not taking any government funds, which to me justified slightly higher prices. I was glad to pay it. Tie down fee was nominal, I even received a night free for my fuel purchase. Great place, great people, I will be back!

Good runway, note right traffic pattern for 17. This is a pilot's pilot airport - Cubs, RV's, gliders & lots of friendly folks to help on the ground. Big parking pad but only 2 tie downs, so call ahead. This airport is growing, but not yet set up for lots of transient traffic. Self-serve fuel was $5.99/gal., no full serve.

Runway in excellent condition, can't say the same for the taxiways or ramp. I can't see how they can justify their fuel prices! Convenient for our family as we had family with auto in NW San Antonio. Very pretty drive through the nearby hill country. Scenic Loop Cafe has great food. No one at front desk at arrival or departure. Run-up area for runway 17 not easy to find. Natural Bridge Caverns worth the $.

This is a very poor choice for transients. First, there is extremely limited tie down space-perhaps 2 slots. No tie down ropes available-bring your own. Some of the tie down spaces are simply a cinder block-rather unsafe. Powered aircraft play second fiddle at this airport. They moved a glider onto the runway while I turning to base, had to go around and was berated by the glider guys on the radio. Really unsafe, and rather unprofessional. In addition, the glider folks at this airport seem not to use the radio too often. This, again, is very unsafe. You're better off going to Stinson. SSF has excellent tie down facilities, a secure, enclosed airfield, friendly staff and a safe, Class D environment. In addition, commute times to northwest San Antonio are about the same from both facilities.

Good location to access North West San Antonio without having to mess with KSAT. There is very limited ramp parking at 5c1 and only self service fuel behind the FBO.

We enjoyed our stop at 5C1. This is the most convenient airport in the San Antonio Northwest corridor to visit the original Rudy's BBQ, Scenic Loop Cafe, and the Shops at La Cantera. Self fuel station is hidden behind the FBO, and the FBO is only marked by a small BP sign. We used private transportation but there was an available courtesy vehicle at the FBO. Everytime we've visited there has been someone attending the desk at the FBO.
